The Lady Chapel on the Coudewater Estate near Hertogenbosch, is an extraordinary spiritual and artistic center in central Netherlands. Marie-Astrid Vermaas, a long-standing student of Alan Fraser's Piano Somatics, has created a festival that brings the Feldenkrais Method and musical performance together in a vibrant, emotionally rich artistic atmosphere. The festival will include live performances, master classes, group Feldenkrais lessons and workshops on Pianimals, the first piano method based on the Feldenkrais Method.

Instrumentalists and vocalists are also invited to attend the festival: Fraser's application of Feldenkrais ideas to musical performance works equally well no matter what your instrument.

FRIDAY EVENING
19:30 A FELDENKRAIS CONCERT
This evening will feature music of various epochs performed by Trio IMAI (Ien Bouwmans, soprano; Marie-Astrid Vermaas, piano; Inge Ijpelaar, flute), with a special treat at intermission: a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lesson taught to the entire audience by Alan Fraser. The lesson will be specifically designed to enhance listening, and the audience is invited to sense the differences in their experience of the music before and after the interval.

Alan Fraser will be in Hertogenbosch for one day prior to the festival and one day following. He will be available for private individual lessons for those who did not get the lucky chance of a lesson during the festival. To book your individual lesson, please use the payment table below.

ALAN FRASER

Canadian pianist Alan Fraser gives master classes and recitals worldwide and conducts ongoing research and refinement on the ideas put forth in his three books, The Craft of Piano Playing (also in DVD), Honing the Pianistic Self-Image, and All Thumbs: Well-Coordinated Piano Technique. MARIE-ASTRID VERMAAS

Vermaas
   

Pianist and pedagogue Marie-Astrid Vermaas is a long-standing resident of Hertogenbosch. She teaches at her studio, The Piano Touch, is a volunteer curator of the instruments at the Geelvinck Piano Museum, is an accomplished chorister, and has translated Alan Fraser's book, Skeletal Wisdom into Dutch. She performs regularly as both a solo and chamber musician, and first attended an Alan Fraser Piano Institute in 2018.

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your registration, reimbursement will be as follows:
Cancellations more than two months before residency opening date: 100% reimbursement.
Cancellations more than one month before residency opening date: 75% reimbursement.
Cancellations more than two weeks before residency opening date: 50% reimbursement.
Cancellations more than one week before residency opening date: 25% reimbursement.
Cancellations less than one week before residency opening date: no reimbursement except in cases of doctor-certified illness or acts of God.
We reserve the right to cancel the residency; in this event, all registration fees are fully refundable.
